阿諾爾德·約瑟·湯因比 (Arnold Joseph Toynbee) 1889年4月14日–1975年10月22日

1889年生於英國倫敦，曾就讀溫切斯特學院（Winchester College）和牛津大學貝利奧爾學院（Balliol College, Oxford），1911年畢業。其後加入雅典考古學院成為研究生，並前往希臘進行考古工作。
回國後，成為母校的研究員，專門研究及教授希臘和羅馬的古代史。
